Online courses provide an opportunity for students to complete all course requirements from their home or office.  Depending on the course, students may be required to take proctored or non-proctored examinations. Participants will have the chance to interact with the instructor and other students, regardless of location using a variety of technologies. Online courses allow students with non-traditional work schedules and/or home responsibilities to take college courses and pursue their education.

Hybrid Courses

Hybrid courses provide an opportunity for students to complete all course requirements from their home or office without having to come to campus every day.  A Hybrid course is a course utilizing more than one mode of instructional delivery.  Instruction may be delivered by such modes as, for example, the internet, email, video, and the classroom.

Instructional Television (ITV) Courses

Telecourses offer flexibility to students who wish to enroll in a college course but are unable to come to Bakersfield College on a regular basis. These college-credit courses fit into the busiest of schedules, enabling students with full-time jobs and family responsibilities to advance their careers and education without sacrificing other important things in life.

Interactive Courses

The Distance Education Program at Bakersfield College also offers the opportunity to participate in an interactive course. Interactive courses are interactive live from the Distance Learning Classroom L147 in the Grace Van Dyke Bird Library to the Delano Center. CRN numbers and detailed information can be found in the schedule listed under the Business, Chicano Studies, Computer Studies, FACE , History, and Math Departments, and the Delano Center.
