Annual Central Valley Philosophy Association Colloquium hosted by the Levan Center for Humanities

The annual Central Valley Philosophy Association colloquium invites all interested parties to attend this year’s event. It promises to be a great day of discussion, and will be a nice opportunity to meet colleagues from many institutions around the state. Poetry and Place
October 12, at 7 p.m. (Tuesday), Levan Center Room
As part of Literary Kern Week, the Center will present a reading and discussion of how places in Kern County and Bakersfield have influenced poetry. Local poets Nancy Edwards, Jack Hernandez, and Don Thompson will read and discuss their published works. This event begins at 7 p.m. in the Levan Center Seminar Room. It is open to the public and parking is free.
October 20 (Wednesday), Levan Center Room .
A panel of Bakersfield Californian columnist Lois Henry, KCCD board member and former supervisor Pauline Larwood, and BC Political Science Professor Steven Holmes will discuss the relevance and importance of ethics in the lives, political campaigns, and activities of politicians. This event begins at 7 p.m. in the Levan Center Seminar Room. It is open to the public and parking is free.
