The Learning Center is designed specifically to assist students in developing the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their coursework and in their academic, professional, and personal pursuits. Our services include one-on-one tutoring, group study, helpful handouts and resources, and assistance with learning strategies for becoming a better student.

  • Tutoring Center - Delano Campus
    The Tutoring Center provides FREE tutoring to all currently enrolled Bakersfield College Students. Our one-on-one peer tutors are trained and certified students who can assist you with many Bakersfield College courses. Assistance with course content, required papers (at any stage) and/or academic skills are available through drop-in and scheduled appointments for most BC courses. Appointments can be made in-person or by calling (661) 720-2076. Open Monday - Thursday 10 AM to 6 PM.
  • Writing Center - The Writing Center offers FREE individualized writing assistance to all currently enrolled Bakersfield College students. We welcome students from diverse disciplines, in all stages of the writing process; we also help with resumes, cover letters, applications to transfer schools and scholarship essays! Drop-in or schedule an appointment with the center's professional staff. Appointments can be made in-person or by calling (661)720-2019.

    Writing Center Workshops: A variety of workshops focused on writing fundamentals are offered each semester. Stop by the center or call, (661) 720-2019, for a schedule of upcoming workshops.

  • PLATO Lab - The PLATO Lab offers FREE and easy to use reading, writing, and math computer-guided tutorials. Students who have questions about the specifics of the lab requirement, or anything else, should refer to the related course syllabus. For additional questions, stop by or call (661) 720-2076 and speak with one of our friendly staff members.

The Library offers student access to resources in print and online; provides quiet, independent study space; access to a pay-per-print printer and copier; and, is staffed by a Reference Librarian who is available to assist students with academic research. Bookstore - Located in the Admissions & Records office room 1001. School supplies (i.e. ScanTrons, bluebooks, textbooks) can be purchased on campus. Open one week prior to the start of semester and the first two weeks of the semester. (661) 720-2008

Textbook buybacks and rental returns available the final week of the semester.
