Renegade Band

The BC Renegade Pep Band (MUSC B42) is an ensemble open to any band members interested in a collegiate pep band experience. The band meets weekly in the fall to prepare for performances at BC Football games and other campus and community events. Together with the Drum Line and the Cheer Team, the Renegade Band is here to fight, fight, fight for BC. Go Gades!

Drum Line

Whether entertaining BC Football fans or representing the college throughout the community, the BC Drum Line (MUSC B18A) is the heartbeat of Bakersfield College.

In the fall semester the Renegade Drumline plays entertainment-oriented music and performs at BC Football games and community events. This class is open to all battery percussionists, and informal auditions occur at the beginning of the school year.

In the spring semester the Indoor Drumline prepares a competitive show and competes locally in the PPAACC circuit and nationally at Winter Guard International sanctioned events. Auditions for this ensemble occur in the fall, and students must be 22 years old or younger to participate.

• 2018 marked the 10th season of Winter Guard International competition for the ensemble
• Competed locally, regionally, and nationally
• WGI West Power Regional @ CSU San Bernardino Coussoulis Arena - Percussion Independent Open Champions (3rd year running)
• WGI World Championships @ University of Dayton (OH) Arena - Percussion Open Class Finals 6th place finish
• Multiple local outreach performances on and off campus during the spring
• Exhibition performances at four local Pep & Pageantry Arts Association of Central California (PPAACC) competitions

Golden Empire Drum & Bugle Corps

The Golden Empire Drum & Bugle Corps from Bakersfield College (MUSC B28) is the premiere drum corps in the southern San Joaquin Valley. The corps is composed of youth who are furthering their education in brass, percussion, and visual performance.

Auditions for this ensemble begin in the spring, and enrollment is open to students ranging from high school through 21 years old. Golden Empire is an Open Class member of Drum Corps International, Marching Music's Major League™, and they participate in DCI's annual summer tour.

Triumphs Spring & Summer 2018

• 2018 marked the 5th season of Drum Corps International competition for the ensemble
• Toured in northern and southern CA, IA, IL, & IN
• Drum Corps International @ the Rose Bowl - Open Class 2nd place finish
• DCI Open Class Finals @ Michigan City, IN - 11th place finish
• DCI World Championship Prelims @ Lucas Oil Stadium (Indianapolis, IN) - 35th place in combined Open/World Class competition
• Hosted 4th annual "RESOUND" DCI Show in BC's Memorial Stadium, playing guest to 9 other DCI corps from as far away as Salt Lake City, UT
• Family day performance @ BC, Exhibition performance @ 1000 Flags Memorial Day event (River Walk), Marched in Westchester 4th of July Parade

Triumphs "Renegade" Band & Drumline Fall 2018

• Performed at all 5 BC home football games, including pre- and post-game
• Exhibition performances at all 4 local high school marching band competitions
• Marched in the Bakersfield Christmas Parade with BC Cheer Team, an annual tradition
