Transportation

Bakersfield College's main campus is located at 1801 Panorama Drive, Bakersfield, California. The campus is on 153 acres between Panorama Drive and University Avenue and Haley Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue. From California Highway 178 (CA-178), take the Mt. Vernon or Haley St Exits north to reach the campus.

BC has locations spread throughout Kern County to serve our community and students, including:

There are many options for reaching our campuses.

Carpool and Rideshare

Bakersfield College encourages you to carpool and rideshare to get to campus. We have several designated drop off locations along the entrance on Haley Street, in front of the Outdoor Theater on the northeast side and near the entrance of Memorial Stadium. 

Bus Transportation

Riding the bus frees you from the struggle with traffic or find parking, and you can focus on your studies as you commute to school. By using public transit, you will be limiting emissions, helping to improve the air quality in the Central Valley.

GET Bus

Golden Empire Transit received a grant to provide FREE bus rides to Bakersfield College students from September 2023 - June 2024! The free passes are good for GET Bus Fixed route buses and On-Demand Paratransit only. Students can pick up their free GET Bus pass at the Office of Student Life when the Fall 2023 semester begins. All students must show their student ID on the bus to the driver when presenting the pass. The pass will swipe through the fare box like a regular bus pass.

Kern Transit

Free Bus Rides for BC Students

Bakersfield College students can ride all Kern Transit routes for FREE through June 2024. Students may ride free on all routes, not just on routes to and from the school, so they can save money commuting all around Kern County! For more information about routes and schedules, visit the Kern Transit Website. To take advantage of this promotion, students must present their Student ID to the bus driver when boarding.

These efforts are funded by a grant from the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program, which provides operating and capital assistance for transit agencies to reduce greenhouse gas emission and improve mobility, with a priority of serving disadvantaged communities. The grant would not have been possible without the support of our public officials, like Kern County Supervisor David Couch.

California Low-Cost Insurance Program

California has a low-cost auto insurance program (CLCA) for people who meet certain requirements. Learn more & apply online at California's Low Cost Auto Insurance website. If you meet the following requirements, you may be eligible for low-cost auto insurance:

• Have a current, valid California driver's license
• Own a vehicle valued at or under $25,000
• Meet income eligibility guidelines
• Are at least 16 years old
• Have a 'good' driving record
